Basic Skills Classes

The talented members of the Moonlight Quilters of Sonoma County share their skills in four classes each year.

These classes are FREE to members!

These fun and informative classes are held at various locations.

Classes cover such topics as:

  • applique: machine or hand

  • machine piecing or quilting

  • specific block patterns

  • techniques

These workshops are a fun way to get to know your fellow MQSC members, learn a new skill, or brush up on something you haven’t done for a while.

Upcoming Basic Skills Workshops

For more information or to sign up contact Trina Jahnsen and/or Miriam Marlin (Basic Skills Coordinators) or send an email to either of their personal email addresses found in the roster.

June 21, 2025 - Sewcial & Basic Skills Community Quilts  - Vets Building - Lodge Room - 9:30 - 3:30

Each MQSC member is asked to donate one quilt each year to be distributed to our community.  Come with your own project or pick up a Community Quilt Kit and spend the day with your quilting buddies. Community Quilt Kits include three yards of fabric and a selection of 3-yard quilt patterns.  Basic Skills will cover any questions you might have.

Sept 6, 2025 - Sewcial & Basic Skills Seminole Piecing - Vets Building - North Room - 9:30 - 3:30

Looking to add a little pizzazz to a project? Consider what a Seminole Piecing strip or two could do.  Come with your own project or try your hand at some Seminole Piecing designs. Seminole Piecing designs can easily be adapted as borders to quilts, decorative piecing to bags or to clothing.
