Elizabeth Barton: "In my work I attempt to address both conceptual and formal issues. I wish to explore the beauty of everyday environments; in troubled times it is especially important to be aware of beauty and wonder. I want to reference archetypal memories to assess our own place in the history of time. I want to create a sense of place but also reveal the dynamic bones of the scene. Reflected light, translucency and the effects of time are recurring themes; I strive to translate into fiber the marvelous effects of light and color. Repeated patterns of windows and architectural forms are a leifmotif. Recently more ephemeral patterns such as those created by water and shadow have become a source of inspiration. The aim is to make work that glows with light and is rich with color and nuance; a work in which the unified composition is satisfying, but the details are fascinating."

Phil Beaver: Who is Phil Beaver? Retired public school teacher in drawing, silversmithing and other metalsmithing, weaving and 3-D fiber design Father of one and grandfather of one. Sue Benner: "My love affair with fabric began with my first memories of the clothes my mother made me, recalling exact hues, fiber content, and weave. My mother taught me to sew, carefully and creatively. My father always had a pencil in his hand or behind his ear, drawing on napkins in restaurants and painting on the weekends. He inspired and encouraged me in art. My education in molecular biology and medical illustration still figures in my work with an underlying sense structure and organizing principles. My current work is about relationship, color-to-color, shape-to-shape, pattern-to-pattern. I revel in the joy of placing one fabric next to another."

Carol Bryer Fallert: "I love the tactile qualities of cloth, and the unlimited color range made possible by hand dyeing, and other surface design techniques. Virtually all of my quilts begin with white, 100% cotton fabric. The fabric is dyed, painted and printed to create the palette of colors and visual texture used in piecing and appliquéing my images. The focus of my work is on the qualities of color, line, and texture, which will engage the spirit and emotions of the viewer, evoking a sense of mystery, excitement, or joy. Illusions of movement, depth, and luminosity are common to most of my work."
